Hi Jonza - glad to hear she has been df'd and is starting to see TTATT. However until she fully adopts it and abandons the plan to get reinstated and then fade you are not out of the woods because the risk is that through the reinstatement process she will get reindoctrinated - which is how the reinstatement process is designed to work. But you have made good progress and I am impressed. Keep it up. Cheers Fraz

How about them Socceroos against the Netherlands? Timmy Cahill is an Australian National Living Treasure! The game against Spain could be quite interesting even though Timmy cannot play cos of two yellow cards.
My left field prediction for the winners is...Chile.
BTW cofty I agree with you about the silly conspriacy theory being sprouted by Hairtrigger. I bet you never thought you would see me agreeing with you hey?

How Pioneering has prepared me for multiple Dates
by KateWild ini have two more dates this week.
keeping track of who is who and showing them a "genuine" interest has been fun to say the least.
i can prepare for each "return visit" in advance and take notes after each date.. so is this ethical?.

Kate - some good advice there from JW daughter that you should heed. It is a bit of a jungle and there are lots of monkeys and cheetahs.

Is it wrong to mock and ridicule the Watchtower Society?
by yadda yadda 2 inrobert j ingersoll on the great voltaire:.
"it has been claimed by the christian critics that voltaire was irreverent; that he examined sacred things without solemnity; that he refused to remove his shoes in the presence of the burning bush; that he smiled at the geology of moses, the astronomical ideas of joshua, and that the biography of jonah filled him with laughter.
they say that these stories, these sacred impossibilities, these inspired falsehoods, should be read and studied with a believing mind in humbleness of spirit; that they should be examined prayerfully, asking god at the same time to give us strength to triumph over the conclusions of our reason.

As JWs are programmed to be expect to be ridiculed they (in the ultimate irony) see this as confirmation of the correctnees of what they believe - they will cite Noah - so when talking to a JW in person mockery and ridicule are counter-productive - but for discussion on JWN mockery and ridicule are clearly appropriate as a form of therapy.

How important do you believe education and knowledge is?
by new hope and happiness inhow educated are you?
and how great is your vocabularly ect ....?.
do you think ir right to judge people by how intelligent/ educated they are and how much vocabulary they use???.

Education and knowledge is very important. It gives skills such as critical thinking and gives you an understanding of the world which makes navigating life and making sound judgements and decisions easier. It tends to make one more open-minded and tolerant. Still you can have a good education and knowledge and still be an a_hole or have little education and be the most open minded accepting person on the planet. This is not a matter of outward appearance such as vocabulary and accent but a state of mind. A person's attitude and outlook is of critical importance.
Humility has its place but should not be overemphasized as it is also important to be assertive and stand up for what you believe in and challenge authority when necessary. In Australia we have the tall poppy syndrome - that is cutting people down to size if they give the appearance of being a show off. But this has the negative side effect of discouraging children from developing their talents or demonstrating what they know or asking questions in class. Anti-intellectualism can be as bad as intellectual pomposity. If you have a good vocabulary why would you not use it for fear of being criticised. Good vocabulary is often a matter of finding the best word to express the idea you are trying to communicate.

Kate - you can be sure the guys on these sites will not be adopting that strategy. Be careful out there - there are a lot of players me suspects. So take your time to test these guys out and discover who are genuine. I agree with sparrow - if you put all your eggs in one basket too early you are more likley to get hurt if the guy you have bet on turns out not to also be seeing the relationship in monogamous terms. Take care Fraz

Raising kids - JW mother, agnostic father
by Zana inmy wife and i have two wonderful children aged 1 and 3. i was raised as a lutheran but stopped believing in my late teen years.
my wife is what i would call a liberal jw (yes, i believe such people exist .
sooner or later our children will have questions about religion and the differences mom and dad show towards it.

SonoftheTrinity - maybe the best thing you can do is be a model of a 'good' worldly person and hopefully be someone they will confide in outside the 'Truth'. I agree the attitude to higher education sucks big time. Recognising their talents and gently encouraging them to realise their potentials could help counter this. Good luck
